2014-02-09 Card - Get Well Soon2014-02-09 Card - Get Well Soon

The Card

I thought I'd try doing both a layout and a card as some folks do on Two Peas.  It's an excellent way to use up the stash.  Unfortunately  I didn't think of it until after my layout was done, and I had put a lot of the stuff away, so even the colours of this card and envelope are not the same, but next time I will prompt myself to select papers and embellishments for both a layout and a card as soon as I get started.

In terms of photography, one thing about photographing red anything is that it's notoriously difficult with a digital camera to get true colours.  This is due to the sensors in digital cameras and applies to point and shoots as well as higher end DSLRs.  Mine is not too bad, but I still struggled to get this to show true colours that weren't clipped.  I'm satisfied with how this came out but that only after many many tries and much playing with the saturation and levels.  The envelope and the card are not both supposed to be the same tone of red/pink.

The Layout

This layout features a very old picture of my daughter when she was about three years old.  I recently was speaking to someone who said she's feeling anxious because her son is three and she has given up on scrapbooking as she's exhausted and would rather spend her free time relaxing in front of the TV when she gets a chance.  I had to say "DON"T WORRY".  I mean, my daughter is 22 and I'm scrapping her pictures now.  She felt instantly better, but I should have added that one important thing to do is to be careful about noting dates and key memories immediately as images are archived because after twenty years, you won't necessarily remember what made the image special.

As for me, I had been careful to archive all my pictures chronologically and saved all my negatives, but a little someone got into them and rearranged them all at some point and now they're not so chronological anymore.

This image reminds me that when she was little we had to be careful about driving past any public parks because if she noticed it, no matter how remote from our home, she would insist on wanting to go there.  But of all the parks in town, The Boat was her favourite.  She would require us to drive her there at least once a week, in spite of the fact that it is located about ten km from home and that we have a public park right behind the house.  {Smiles fondly}.  Good times.
